Conveyor and component maintenance is crucial to the overall operating efficiency. Different components have different maintenance techniques and schedules. When preventative maintenance such as; adjusting skirting, tensioning belt cleaners, inspecting the conveyor belt and components, etc., is done, the conveyor has a better chance of operating at maximum capability. It is hard for maintenance teams to practice preventative maintenance as opposed to reactive maintenance. Proper training and understanding of what needs to be done to conveyors to prevent problems is key. Component and equipment orders need to be coordinated with the manufacturer so the appropriate work can be completed during planned shutdowns/outages.
Components all need individual attention as well. Without it, conveyors won’t be successful.
