Avoid Puncturing, Ripping, & Grooving The Conveyor Belt

Understanding the Risks of Foreign Object Conveyor Belt Damage

0419HOccasionally, stray pieces of metal can inadvertently land on a conveyor belt, typically originating from packaging or containers used for transporting materials. If these scraps get caught in a chute or other machinery, they can swiftly puncture or groove the belt's top cover or even its carcass. This can cause significant damage in moments, potentially making the conveyor unusable, akin to the damage caused by years of abrasion.

Furthermore, eliminating the possibility of this type of damage is nearly impossible. Any risk of failure represents a potential for catastrophic consequences. While systems such as grizzly screens, metal detectors, and video monitors can enhance the likelihood of catching scraps before they reach the belt or cause damage, they require continual monitoring.
